SAHA Learn To Skate Session #3 is Cancelled

Out of an abundance of caution, Session #3 of Learn to Skate has been cancelled. With the ongoing COVID situation and state and local mandates in place, ensuring the safety of our players and parents is most important.  We look forward to seeing the little skaters in Fall 2021.

UPDATE PLEASE READ: SAHA ASSOCIATION 12/1/2020

To All Associated with SAHA (parents, players, coaches, etc),

This message is in regard to COVID-19 and EO-16.

Effective 8:00am on Tuesday, December 1st, 2020 - All members will be following the EO-16 mandate.

https://www.muni.org/covid-19/documents/signed%20eo-16.pdf

If you or your player have any symptoms of COVID-19 please make sure that you take the appropriate measures; social distancing, testing, self isolation and/or quarantine.

ALL members of our association must continue to follow both the municipalities, association and facilities mitigation guidelines, rules and regulations.

Any teams, players, or parents not following the protocols will be asked to leave the facilities. O'Malley Ice Center will be enforcing their protocols.

ALL of our members (players, coaches and parents) must do the following:

  • It is MANDATORY that ALL MEMBERS wear a mask AT ALL TIMES while in the facilities. This means masks are REQUIRED both ON AND OFF the ICE.
  • Mandatory HOME DRESS and UNDRESS.
  • NO BAGS ALLOWED IN FACILITIES.
  • Locker rooms are still Off Limits.
  • NO SPECTATORS
  • All players arrive for ice times 15 minutes prior to start time and leave following the ice time.
  • Everyone should adhere to the social distancing guidelines that are in place by both the facility and our Association.
  • Contact tracing shall take place.
  • We are requiring each team to do temperature checks prior to entering the facilities. Anyone with a temp higher then 100.4 degrees will not be allowed to participate.
  • Stay home if you or anyone that you have been in contact with has shown any symptoms.
  • If a player tests positive for COVID, the entire team is required to quarantine for 14 days from last contact.
  • Any member with a positive test, or secondhand contact to a positive person must report to the team’s Coach, Manager, and Association.

COVID Questions to address prior to ALL events:

  1. Have you experienced the development of any cold or flu symptoms in the last 14 days (fever, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat)?
  2. In the past 10 days, have you received a positive result from a COVID test?
  3. To the best of your knowledge, have you had close contact (within 6 feet for at least 10 minutes) with, or cared for, someone diagnosed with COVID-19 within the last 14 days?
  4. Have you traveled out-of-state in the past 14 days, without compliance to Municipal guidelines?
  5. Do you have a temperature of greater than 100.4 degrees?

If you, or anyone in your household, reports a ‘yes’ response to any of the previous questions, please remain home and refer to COVID guidelines below.

From the CDC:

  1. If your player has a high-risk symptom (i.e. fever-even low grade, cough, shortness of breath or loss of taste or smell), they should get a COVID test and cannot return unless it is negative, or 10 days after symptoms have resolved.
  2. If your player has low risk symptoms (congestion, diarrhea, sore throat), they need to stay home until their symptoms are improving.
  3. If a participant has been in close contact with someone (participant, family or community member) diagnosed with COVID-19, and he/she choosing to get a Covid-19 test, he/she may be able to end the quarantine period after 7 days of quarantine, on the 8th day. He/she should take a COVID-19 test within 48 hours prior when they hope to end the  quarantine (on day 6 or 7). They must continue to quarantine until the test comes back negative, which may be longer than 7 days. Even if the test is negative and he/she ends quarantine, they must continue to wear a mask when around others and monitor for symptoms for the full 14 days. If they develop any symptoms or their test result is positive, they must self-isolate. If he/she chooses not to take a Covid-19 they should quarantine for a full 10 days after date of exposure. They may end the quarantine on day 11 if he/she do not develop symptoms. They must continue to wear a mask when around others and monitor for symptoms for the full 14 days. Self-isolate if you develop symptoms and get tested.
  4. If your player has a secondhand contact (ie your coworker is positive and your child is around you) they can come to the rink unless they develop symptoms, then the above applies.

We will continue coordinating in accordance with local, state and national guidelines in response to COVID-19 in order to promote a safe and healthy environment for all of our members. We have and will continue to work closely with the facilities to ensure all players safety both on and off the ice.

Thank you,
Dane Smulick

Hockey Community Support Needed

As many in our hockey Community know, the Bayshore Elementary ice rink was deemed unsafe and removed recently by the Anchorage School District. A committee has been created to help facilitate the design and rebuild of the rink but they need help from the Anchorage Community to help secure the funding needed to make the rebuild happen!!
